Triangle Base Mounting Instructions (Weld-On or Bold-On)
FIGURES 1 & 2
Triangle Bases are designed for mounting to trailers with “A” plate couplers. If tongue has bottom support plate added, open diameter of hole so that jack assembly can slide downward thru bottom support plate.
- 1. Install the jack post in the Triangle Base by removing the allen retainer, then slide the jack post into the Triangle Base. Locate the assembly on the “A” plate coupler to ensure Jack post clears when slid downward.
- 2. All welding MUST be performed by an AWS certified welder.
- 3a. Welding: Weld Triangle Base to tongue using 3/16” fillet weld all around perimeter.
- 3b. Bolting: Attach Triangle Base to tongue using three 3/18-16, grade 5 bolts with washers. For thru bolting, use (3) grade 5 locking nuts with washers.Torque bolts 15-20 ft-lbs.
- 4. CRITICAL - See Figure 2. Remove the plastic retainer and apply either thread lock tape or locking compound to the threads of the retainer bolt. Install plastic retainer with raised V feature toward V groove in the post. Snug to remove most of the free play between the post and collar. The post should slide up/down freely when the swivel handle is disengaged. Failure to follow this step WILL result in the plastic retainer falling out, causing potential jack failure.
Warranty is void if this step is skipped. The plastic retainer falling out without a thread lock will be replaced.
Side Mounting Instructions (Bolt-On) FIGURE 3
If using a side mount jack, ensure the mounting hole pattern fits your frame rail size (4" rail or 6" rail). The gap between the mounting holes and frame rail is not to exceed 1/16".
- Place the jack against the frame rail and position the mounting straps on the opposite side of the frame rail. Align the holes in the mounting bracket with the holes in the mounting straps.
- Insert the four 8mm bolts, grade 8.8 & washers thru the mounting bracket and mounting straps. The upper bolts should rest on the top of the frame rail. The lower bolts should be less than 1/16" from the bottom of the frame rail.
- Install four lock nuts & washers. Torque nuts 25 ft-lbs. Bolts must extend out of the nut at least ⅛" after torque.
- CRITICAL - Using Figure 3, follow step 4 of Triangle Base Mounting Instructions above.
Warranty is void if this step is skipped. The plastic retainer falling out without a thread lock will not be replaced.

To use the rapid deployment feature, remove the hitch pin clip, then firmly grip the jack post while rotating the swivel handle 180 degrees. Lower or raise the jack post to the desired elevation, rotate the swivel handle back into place, and position the jack up or down until the pin engages a hole in the jack post. Replace the hitch pin clip to lock the swivel handle. NEVER turn or pull the swivel handle while jack is supporting the load or the trailer is moving! The swivel handle MUST be secured by the hitch pin clip at all times except when the jack post is being lowered or raised using the rapid deployment feature. The hitch pin clip must be installed when the jack is supporting a load, when the jack is "jacking" the trailer, or the trailer is hitched to a tow vehicle. Illustrations showing the dimensions of the RDJ-2K and a photo of the swivel handle with the hitch pin clip installed are presented below.
